3 Tips on How To Prepare For A Sales Interview
Preparing for an interview for a sales job can be intimidating, but if you focus on the right things you can walk out expecting to get a call back. Here are 3 tips on how to prepare for a sales interview.
1. Focus On The Numbers
One of the biggest things your interviewer wants to know is how you have done in past sales roles. Be prepared to give them specific sales numbers and accomplishments you have achieved. Monthly/Quarterly/Annual sales figures are a good place to start. Also including where you ranked among your peers will take you far.
2. Be Prepared To Tell A Story
Before your interview, think of a few times you have had success in sales. Recall the process you went through to get that sale and what you did to make yourself successful. The thing to remember here is to be specific. Also having a story ready about how you overcame an objection will serve you well.
3. Ask Very Specific Questions
One of the keys to a great interview is to ask very specific questions. Do a good amount of research on the company you are interviewing with. Ask about their sales process. Ask about how sales fulfillment works. Think of as many specific questions regarding the role you are applying for and be ready to fire them off.
The most important thing to remember in an interview is to be yourself. It is easy to let your nerves get the best of you, but if you let your personality shine you will be ahead of the game. A sales manager or sales director wants to see that you're personable and confident. They know they can teach sales tactics and product knowledge, so if you can show you’re the type of person that can strike up engaging conversations and ask good questions it will go a long ways.
Until next time,
